The CCHS Panther Cheerleading squad might hold a record for fundraising - the group collected $21,000 in about six weeks for their trip to Florida for the Americheer Internationals competition.
The squad will be gone March 16-20 for the event at Universal Studios in Orlando, Florida.The group includes 10 young ladies and five young men.
Their fundraisers have ranged from hot dogs with Santa to a traditional car wash to tonight’s Mi Viejo night. “People are willing to help if we’re willing to put in the effort,” said cheerleader Rileigh Darnold.
Cheerleading sponsor Ashlea Beckham said the squad was selected to compete based on a video submission. “We compete in the game day division. Our scores are based off of a band dance, sideline, crowd cheer, and fight song. Scores are given for crowd leading, stunts, jumps, tumbling, and our overall enthusiasm,” Beckham explained.
