Lohr

Mary Lohr has long enjoyed analyzing data and a new job she will begin in the district lets her focus on that skillset.

Lohr will become the new Federal Programs Coordinator/Assistant to the Director of Pupil Personnel Mark Willhoite.

ā€œWe are excited to welcome Mary Lohr to her new position,ā€ said Superintendent Casey Jaynes. ā€œHer expertise with data analysis and building leadership skills will help us be more successful in increasing student achievement in terms of how our federal grants programs support our students and staff members.ā€

ā€œI will make sure we are in compliance for all of our federal title programs,ā€ Lohr explained. She will also assist Supervisor of Instruction Jeannie Rohrer with professional development and analyzing attendance data.

She has performed some of this as an Associate Principal at CCMS, but itā€™s difficult to delve into the numbers when she has so many other hats to wear in the school setting. Lohr holds a double major in business administration and economics, so this job was right in line with her abilities.

ā€œIā€™m excited and apprehensive,ā€ she said about leaving the school setting. ā€œIā€™m sad in a way because this will be my first time away from kids. Thatā€™s the part I will miss the most.ā€

Lohr has spent 25 Ā½ years as an educator, coming to Carroll County in 2016 as an Associate Principal at the high school. She then moved to the middle school, the group she calls ā€œher tribe.ā€

Shortly after coming to CCMS Lohr was diagnosed with cancer and she quickly learned how close her tribe really was. ā€œMy first year at the middle school, I was diagnosed with cancer and the staff barely knew me. Despite that, they took care of me in ways I could have never imagined. Even parents showed their concern. CCMS became my work family in such a way that I will miss them dearly.ā€

Even so, sheā€™s excited about the opportunity for the next generation of school leadership. ā€œItā€™s time to step away and let somebody else come in and learn how to lead,ā€ she said.
