Students writing persuasive letters

Imagination with a mixture of strawberries teamed up to create what might be the next best donut.

Third grade students at Cartmell Elementary utilized their skills to write a persuasive letter to HOS Coffee. The children created their own donut and the HOS Coffee staff chose the winner.

Monte Evans won with his creation, the Strawberry Volcano. ā€œMy brand new donut, the Strawberry Volcano, will be the best donut in the world,ā€ he wrote.

His culinary delight starts with organic strawberries because they are twice as sweet and is topped off with a one-of-a-kind strawberry syrup. ā€œThe mix of strawberry drizzle and strawberry filling will have everyone wanting more,ā€ he wrote. Of course itā€™s topped with fresh cut strawberries.

ā€œThis strawberry combination is like eating a bowl of strawberries while eating your donut,ā€ Evans wrote.

While his donut probably wonā€™t actually be made and sold at HOS, the staff decided it was a great suggestion. Evans won a HOS gift certificate from the third grade language arts team as his reward.

Other classroom winners include Skyla Pattee, Dellie Barnes, Gracie Chandler, Ava Boyer, Reagan Herald and Monte Evans.
