Nursing Student Talking With Kindergartener

Nursing students at the Carroll County Area Technology Center held a teddy bear clinic this week for kindergarteners.

The future nurses went to Kathryn Winn Primary School with teddy bears or other stuffed animals in tow. Each of the kindergarten students was given a stuffed animal who went through a check-up with the nurse.

The animal’s temperature, weight, ears and size were all checked. Each child was given a certificate of good health to go with their new animal.

“These students have done such a good job all year I thought this was a good way to end,” Pre-Nursing Instructor Diane Glenn said. She said the idea for the teddy bear clinic came from the HOSA website.

Glenn hopes to continue the teddy bear clinic for the kindergarteners each year. In the future, she would like to partner with other health care providers to make it a full health clinic.
