Students signing letters of intent

A group of students committing to college, military, Dow apprenticeship and the Future 42 program signed their official letters of intent today at Carroll County High School. A ceremony was held at CCHS with a number of parents, school representatives, industry partners and military personnel attending.

The Future 42 program is a partnership between Jefferson Community and Technical College and our local industry partners. These advanced manufacturing programs create pathways to some of the most in-demand careers in the region. The students will major in Applied Process Technology, Engineering Electronics, Welding and General Occupational and Technical Studies. These students have committed to enter advanced manufacturing programs at JCTC’s Carrollton campus and train to pursue careers in our local industries.

The Dow U.S. Apprenticeship Program provides three or more years of on-the-job experience while earning an associates degree. Apprentices for Dow earn competitive wages and full college tuition while gaining specialized training in one of America’s most in-demand manufacturing specialties. They will prepare for roles such as chemical process technician, instrument electrical technician, millwright, electrician and laboratory technician. These students also complete their education at JCTC’s Carrollton campus.

The remainder of students signed commitment letters to universities for athletics and band and two signed a commitment to the U.S. military.

“We are so proud of all of our students today,” Carroll County Schools Superintendent Casey Jaynes said. “These students have a plan for their next step in their transition to adulthood and we wish them the best as they leave CCHS, hopefully to return and be contributing citizens of our community.”
