Carroll County High School will soon say goodbye to a woman who has been a consistent presence in its halls and has helped hundreds of students during her 26-year tenure.
Youth Services Coordinator Tracey Reynolds is retiring and looking forward to new adventures in lifeāmost of which will be enjoyed on two wheels. If you know Reynolds, you know that means she will be soaking up the sun while riding her motorcycle across the United States.
While she is excited about the future, she will miss her friends and students at CCHS. She recalled several students she has helped and remains in contact with years after supporting them through difficult times.
āItās always been rewarding to help people who you know need help,ā Reynolds said. She noted that itās especially gratifying to see those same individuals succeed, grow, and then pay it forward by helping others in need.
āThose are the kids who mean the most to me,ā she said.
When she returned to her hometown in 1998, her role involved a lot of counseling, but over time, it evolved into more social work. She has spent countless hours collecting Christmas presents for families in need, gathering clothing for students, providing food for students and their families, working one-on-one with students to help them graduate, and making many other contributions to the school community.
Reynolds hoped to keep her last day low-key, declining a retirement party. However, Superintendent Casey Jaynes and a few others stopped by her office throughout the day to say thank you and farewell.
āLots of kids think a lot of you, and youāve made a profound impact on their lives,ā Jaynes said to an appreciative Reynolds.
We wish Reynolds the best of luck in retirement and hope she enjoys life on two wheels.
