Eighth graders in Sherry Lawson’s careers class presented their capstone project to judges this week. The CCMS students researched a career in which they were interested then created a display board with their research. Each gave an oral presentation to the judges and answered questions about their chosen career. The students were scored on the display and the presentation of the career information.

Cartmell Elementary is collecting hats, glove and socks for people in need. Items can be brought to Cartmell through Friday during school hours. A donor gave 56 pieces to Matthew McLaughlin this week, helping him toward his personal goal of collecting 100 pieces. The classroom with the largest amount gets a popsicle party!

Welding students from the Carroll County Area Technology Center excelled at the Logan Cooper Cutting Classic in Grant County recently. Ten of the top 25 were from the ATC. The results include: Lyric McKinney, second place; Alexis Molina, fourth place; Dillan Human, fifth place; Logan Perdue, sixth place; Houston Parker, tied for seventh place; Celia Tuttle, tied for eighth place; and Helena Guy, Christian Avila and Dawson Schluter tied for ninth place. The welders raced to see who can cut through steel the fastest with an acetylene torch. The competition is held annually in honor of a Grant County welding student who passed away in 2017. During the holidays, many parents enjoy coming to school to enjoy lunch with their child. The district welcomes parents and guardians into our schools, but we are unable to serve them lunch. Our food services staff only prepares enough food for our students and staff, so it is not prepared to serve additional adult meals. A shortage of food services staff also makes it difficult to serve additional meals. We welcome you to join your child during their lunch period, but please understand lunch will not be available for purchase by adults.

Business students at the Carroll County Area Technology Center showed off their Microsoft Publisher skills by making Christmas cards. Each student designed a one-of-a-kind holiday card for their parents/guardians using MS Publisher from scratch. No templates were allowed and each card had to feature a picture of the student.
