Juniors! Do you want to some help with your ACT? Sign up for the Super Saturday Sessions!
The Super Saturday sessions aim to help students feel more comfortable and confident tackling the ACT. These sessions allow students to work one-on-one or in small groups with content experts to help expand their understanding of English, Math, Reading, or Science. Super Saturdays also allow students to work on non-content issues like test anxiety and navigating timed tests. While priority registration is given to juniors, it is open to any student scheduled to take the ACT in the spring.

This is a test broadcast message from Carroll County Schools to all parents and staff. This is only a test.
A few potential civil engineers were revealed recently when Project-Based Learning students constructed bridges and measured their structural integrity.
A wooden bridge built by Justus Tharp, Elijah Dalton and Reese Gill held more than 1,200 pounds before breaking. Dakota Green and Garrison Brumback built theirs out of metal and it held more than 600 pounds. That bridge could have withstood more weight, but it could not be safely stacked on top of the structure.
Another successful bridge was made by Alan Rodriguez Duran, Omar Zacarias, and Cristian Roque. They made their bridge from popsicle sticks and it held more than 290 pounds. (More photos on the district Facebook page.)

Eighth grade math students of Renee Coghill and Nicole LeGrand got a taste of learning math with the aid of virtual reality last month.
Prisms is the program that takes students into the āreal worldā to tackle an actual problem. For example, they had to aid a rooftop garden owner who wanted to use computers to automate the movement of plants based on the plants' need for sunlight. The students had to find the shortest path and write the mathematical rule that moved each plant to the best location.
The students will continue the VR math program into this semester.
Thank you to all law enforcement agencies that help protect our staff and students on a daily basis. We appreciate all of you at the Carrollton Police Department, Carroll County Sheriff's Office and Kentucky State Police.
AARP of Kentucky asked fifth grade students to write an essay explaining why their grandparent should be chosen Grandparent of the Year. CCMS staff voted on the top seven and awarded first place to Caroline Simmons. Other winners include Waylon Beach, Ryann Stewart, Jaxon Routon, Ava Saggus, Aria Edmonson and Bryleigh Westrick.
The CCMS classes with the highest growth on their math i-Ready test were treated to circus games, cotton candy, a sucker and prizes. Games were run with the help of teachers, administrators and the WEB Leaders. (More photos on the district Facebook page.)

The Kentucky Department of Education is seeking feedback as it searches for a new Commissioner of Education. The process should take about five minutes to complete.
It is important for all communities to have a voice in the selection process.
Feedback can be submitted through the Kentucky educators and administrators survey https://survey.k12insight.com/survey1.aspx?k=RQsQRSRUTsSsPsPsP&lang=0 or the Kentucky education stakeholder survey https://survey.k12insight.com/survey1.aspx?k=RQsQRSRUTsQsPsPsP&lang=0. The education stakeholder survey, which also is available in Spanish, is intended for use by families, community members, business owners and others with a stake in Kentuckyās public education system.
The Three Rivers District Health Department provided emergency bags to elementary students recently. The bags include items such as a flashlight, toothbrush, toothpaste, and a magnet with emergency numbers. Thank you to our community partner for this generous donation!
