North American Stainless donated $10,000 to help fill the food pantries operated at Carroll County Schools. Each school has quick service food and snacks for students who are in need. Thank you to our partner North American Stainless for this impactful donation.

The Carroll County High School National Honor Society chapter inducted its newest members yesterday. A minimum 3.5 GPA is required for admission and must be maintained throughout their tenure in the NHS. Members are also expected to take on leadership roles within clubs or sports, complete at least 20 hours of community service and demonstrate strong character traits such as respect, maturity, responsibility, fairness, trustworthiness, honesty and good citizenship. Each student was also required to complete an essay outlining their strengths and why they should be inducted into NHS.
The newest members are Ryleigh Ashby, Miriam Atilano Zarate, Brinley Couch, Jon Davis, Adree Dermon, Shelby Hillebrandt, Makayla Keithley, Lincoln Miller, Lydia Risk, Kaylee Snow and Robert Brayden Stewart.

Laman Stark, voice of the CCHS Panthers basketball, got a surprise visit from his youngest grandson between games on Homecoming night. Reed ran across the gym floor to greet his Pop.

Eighth graders recently toured the Carroll County High School in preparation for their transition to high school next school year. They were taken on tours by student leaders, learned about schedules and observed students working on the heavy equipment simulator.

The junior Young Leaders group visited JCTC to learn more about education, leadership, and entrepreneurship with guest speakers Heather Yocum, Dr. Michael Shell, and Dr. Tim Burgoyne. Students enjoyed using Legos with Dr. Shell for team building and to learn more about their natural roles working in teams. Thank you to everyone who has attended the Town Hall meetings to discuss the district's vision for the future. We will host two more Town Halls on Feb. 6 and 7, both beginning at 6 p.m. They will be in the ag workshop at Carroll County High School. Everyone is welcome!

An informational night about how to complete the FAFSA, a federal financial aid application, as well as information on state benefits from the KHEAA program will be held on Monday, Feb. 3 at 6 p.m. This is open to all seniors and their families. It will be held at 6 p.m. at the JCTC Carrollton campus. All students should bring their laptop. Please contact Mrs. Raisor at CCHS or Mrs. Ashcraft at iLEAD Academy with questions.

The Carroll County Schools maintenance department was recognized by the board of education for their efforts during the recent snow storm. The five-man team worked very hard to clear parking lots and sidewalks while dealing with equipment problems and extreme weather. Thank you!


A free graduated licensing program class is being offered Jan. 30 from 4-8 p.m. by the Department of Transportation. All teen drivers are required to complete this course in order to obtain a full driver's license. More information available at https://kentuckysafedriver.com/.


Matthew McLaughlin and Harmony Koohns (not pictured) were recognized by the Carroll County Board of Education for organizing a hat and glove collection for people in need. They are students at Cartmell Elementary. Each month the board recognizes students for achievements.

Carroll County Schools Superintendent Casey Jaynes thanked the board of education for its service and dedication to our students during their monthly meeting last night. January is School Board Appreciation Month.

North American Stainless brought some of its employees to the Carroll County Area Technology Center yesterday for a mini career fair. They spoke to students about their tasks, qualifications and demonstrated some of the tools they use daily.

The Carroll County Child Development Center's home-based program is hosting a winter sensory socialization event tonight at the public library from 5-6 p.m. It will feature three stations: digging animals from ice, don't break the ice game, and snow with polar bears and penguins. Participants will receive penguin crackers, mini marshmallows and snow cones for snacks. Door prizes will be given!
