Carroll County High School will be represented at the state track and field meet by recently graduated senior Seth Franklin. The meet is held tomorrow at the University of Kentucky.
He earned the spot after getting top rankings at the Class 1A Region in Lexington on May 18. Seth took first place in the boys long jump with a personal record of 20-09.75. He also secured a second place in the boys triple jump with a leap of 41-02.50. In addition, he qualified to compete in the high jump at the state meet.
As a team, the girls were ranked 11th while the boys were ranked 10th. Several athletes set personal records at the regional meet.
While Seth is the only student athlete to advance to state competition, his teammate Grayson Kinman will compete next week in the unofficial TurboJav state meet in northern Kentucky. He's currently ranked 6th in the state.
