Two CCHS students will participate in the Swiss Wine Festival in neighboring Switzerland County this weekend.
Madi Groves and Coy Willhoite will be the ambassadors from Carroll County High School to the Swiss Wine Festival. The annual festival in Vevay has featured ambassadors for a number of years.
Madi and Coy were nominated by their teachers for the honor during last school year. Coy was the only boy nominated by multiple teachers so he was automatically selected. Madi, however, had to go through an interview process with several other girls before being chosen.
“I think it’s a great opportunity,” Madi said as she and Coy gathered at the Lady Panthers softball field for some photographs. Both she and Coy are entering their senior year and are leaders on their softball and baseball teams.
Coy said “I’m very honored to represent my high school in the Swiss Wine Festival.”
The two will be in the parade on the morning of Saturday, August 24. They are putting out a call for all Panthers to wear their Panther gear and join them by walking the parade route with them. The pair are riding in a very unique way, which will not be revealed until parade day.
In addition to the parade, the pair will be interviewed by judges together and separately, and they will select a quote from an Olympic athlete and explain what it means to them.
Anyone interested in joining these Panthers in the parade should be at 507 Vineyard Street, Vevay, by 9 a.m.
