A 22-year veteran bus driver has taken the helm of the Carroll County Schools Department of Transportation.
Dianna Dunn has worked nearly every facet in the transportation department since she began driving in 2000. “I love my kids and I love what I do,” she said, noting she has driven the same route in Ghent for 22 years. She will ultimately have to give up her route, but not until absolutely necessary.
Dunn assumed her duties as Director of Transportation on January 30. She has experience in the position after filling in for her husband, Darren, following his heart attack. “I feel like I’m ready for the next step,” she said. “I want our drivers to hang around and be happy.”
Mark Willhoite, chief operations officer and director of pupil personnel, praised Dunn and her commitment to the school district. “I have had the pleasure of working with Dianna for several years and have known her most of my life. You will be hard-pressed to find someone who cares about all students as much as Dianna. She has excellent working relationships with our staff and parents. I am confident our schools are in great hands with Dianna. We are blessed to have her leading our transportation team.”
