Kathryn Winn Primary School students presented the eight habits of the Leader in Me program during a school assembly today.
Leaders in Mrs. Dews (Kindergarten) and Ms. Devine’s (first grade) classes focused on Habit 5 this month - Seek first to understand, then to be understood. Mustaches were sported throughout the assembly because “I mustache you a question” to understand Habit 5, said Principal Donna Monroe.
As part of the assembly, Mila Hayes was recognized for her leadership in creating a project that organized collecting Christmas cards for senior citizens. She then distributed the cards to nursing homes. “She was really trying to understand her community,” Monroe said. “I’m so very proud of you.”
Leadership awards were also awarded to Nora Hill for being an amazing leader and role model in class and to Elaina Hill for checking on her friends who were not feeling well at lunch. These girls were chosen from a random drawing of students within their grade who have been nominated for a leadership award.
In wrapping up the monthly ceremony, Ella Grace Logan challenged the school to participate in morning greetings by stopping, making eye contact and giving a proper greeting.
