A 7-year-old girl’s compassion led her to celebrate her birthday in a special way this year.
Bella Rose turns 7 today and she chose to host a food drive for the homeless in Carroll County.
“I saw a homeless person that made me so sad how they didn’t have any food,” she said. She sought help from Cydney Conley, Family Ties Coordinator, to see how she could collect food for homeless people. Together, they made contact with the Carroll County Food Pantry to learn what items are needed.
Donna Monroe, Principal at Kathryn Winn Primary, said “Our goal is not only to educate children, but to develop leaders who can see a problem or an issue in our community and act on it. That is exactly what Bella has done.”
Bella is collecting water, bread, fruit gummies, cereal, crackers, peanut butter and jelly, tuna, granola bars and macaroni and cheese cups. She will collect the remainder of this week at Kathryn Winn Primary.
