This summer, Kathryn Winn Primary became a creative hub for several artists. Staff members and two high school students worked together to paint murals, build Lego wall designs and create various design elements that now adorn the school. Their efforts were mainly concentrated in the cafeteria and bathrooms. In the cafeteria, a team of Aayme Kindoll, Brandi Castle, Tiffany Riley, Kara DeBaun, Brenna Mefford, and Zackary Kindoll painted a series of lively murals. Additionally, Zackary Kindoll crafted a Lego mural featuring Captain Bubble versus General Germ in the boys' bathroom, adding a playful yet educational touch.

Students in the Project-Based Learning (PBL) program at Carroll County High School talked up the program to their younger counterparts before graduating. They visited project sites and explained how the program worked. PBL was begun last year as a means for students to participate in hands-on activities that beautified the CCHS campus and teach them about planning, organizing and putting their ideas into practice. The class is open to seniors only. CCHS teachers Kevin States and Joe Creager lead students in their English and math classes while Jeff Fremin is their advisor and helps with creation and implementation of the projects. This year they will also be assisted by study skills instructors.

CCHS students in the Project-Based Learning classes put the finishing touches on a memorial garden beside the school. The space began as a memorial to teacher Tom Buchanan, who passed away from COVID. Buchanan's widow, Misty, who also taught at CCHS, happened to be at school one day and saw the students' work. It has been expanded to serve as a peaceful spot for reflection and calm.
