A few third graders were treated to a visit from their neighbors at Carroll County High School before Christmas break began. Co-curricular students taught by Hannah Marsh and Kendall Clifford made ornaments for the children in Natalie Abbott and Cassandra Southworth’s classes. They also read books with the children and colored with them. The groups even enjoyed cupcakes as a treat from the Cartmell classes. (More photos on the district Facebook page.)

Project-Based Learning (PBL) students broke ground on the observation deck beside the Carroll County High School pond. After much planning, writing a proposal and pitching the project before several school panels, it was approved. Students used batter boards and string to square the foundation before digging the first post hole. They also applied the Pythagorean Theorum (3-4-5 triangle) to square the corners. Thanks to the Council for Better Education for their work in identifying the shortfalls in SEEK (Support Education Excellence in Kentucky) funding across the Commonwealth. This is how Carroll County Schools have been impacted since 2008 and what we need the Kentucky General Assembly to fund over the next two budget cycles. The SEEK funding program is a formula driven allocation of state provided funds to local school districts. The Council for Better Education is a nonprofit corporation founded to ensure full implementation of Kentucky’s constitutional commitment to our students and our common schools. We encourage everyone in Carroll County to stay informed about school funding shortfalls and the impact it has on our students.
