Cathy Gilbert spoke to the students about the Urban Forestry Commission and the City of Carrolltonās designation as a Tree City. They have held that honor for 32 years. āItās a time to appreciate our community and our trees,ā Gilbert said. āPlanting a tree is a sign of hope.ā
Gail Becraft, a retired Carroll County teacher, explained to the Winn students what a magnolia tree will look like and described its beautiful flowers. Both trees can sky to 50 feet tall and both are native to Kentucky.
Carrollton Mayor Robb Adams read a proclamation from the city to honor Arbor Day.
