September is Attendance Awareness Month. Good attendance is critical for student success. Let's all do our part to ensure our students succeed!

Superintendent Casey Jaynes has prepared this statement to answer questions about the decision to close school and cancel Friday night's football game.

Attention Panther families,
We will be closing school tomorrow and Friday, Aug. 29-30, due to illness among our staff and students. We certainly appreciate everyone's efforts in trying to keep our system up and running smoothly, but we have come to the point that it is not sustainable for everyone's health and safety.
On a side note, we will continue with athletic events as we will not be able to reschedule these during the current season. Athletes should have limited access to inside areas such as locker rooms and the gym.
Please take this opportunity over this long weekend to get well and rested.

Cheerleading tryouts for children in grades 2-6 have been scheduled. A parent meeting will be held on Friday.

These future members of the CCHS Dance Team have been preparing for a performance tonight at the home football game. The game starts at 7:30 p.m. Join us at Panther Field to support all of our student athletes!

Cartmell Elementary sorted its new students into their houses recently. Each new inductee was greeted by house leaders and led to their seating area. The houses did their chants and the spirit stick was passed from Mr. Courtney to Mrs. McCarthy. Four Houses, One Family! (More photos on the District Facebook page.)

PARENT REMINDER--Each Cartmell student should have a COMPLETE CHANGE OF CLOTHES in their backpack in case of accidents, spills, falls, etc. as well as, a parent provided pair of HEADPHONES (not earbuds) for daily use at school. If you have not provided these items, please do so as soon as possible. Thank you for supporting your child's success at school!

Throwback Thursday - Comment below if you recognize any of these CCHS students featured in the 1984 yearbook.

The Three Rivers Health District is hosting a vaccination clinic at all of its offices on August 17. No appointment is necessary.

Everyone at Cartmell has been so excited to be back at school and spending some recreational time with friends at recess!

HERE'S A BIRD'S-EYE-VIEW OF OUR PICKUP PROCEDURES!
We use an app called iDismiss to check in car tag numbers in wave order, then line up students inside according to those waves. Be sure and communicate any transportation change to the office via email at cartbuspass@carroll.kyschools.us by 1:00pm each day. This helps ensure that students are in the right location for pickup or bus.

Cartmell Elementary students spent part of their first day of school reviewing expectations and learning about each piece of their school day.

PICKUP PROCEDURES FOR CARTMELL--Thank you in advance for your PATIENCE during pickup this afternoon! The first couple of days are always a little hectic, but we have an efficient process in place to get our students to their cars and headed home in a safe and timely manner. You can help by familiarizing yourself with the process and guidelines before you arrive today. *If you still need a pickup tag, PLEASE visit the office BEFORE 1:00 PM today, so that you can join the pickup line without issue.

We are excited to welcome students back to Carroll County Schools tomorrow! Please see the list of start and release times as well as a map for Cartmell's pickup plan. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1FSZKTJi58jCoANE9cB2kR10AoqPmQ04e/view?usp=sharing

Cartmell Panther Families:
Please remember that the first day of school is on Wednesday, August 14th.
Parents/Legal Guardians are welcome to walk their child to his/her classroom on the first day of school. We want our students to have a positive start to their school year. After the first day of school, families are asked to drop their students off in the pick up/drop off line or send their students on the bus, and we will be sure to get your child safely to class.
Lunch Visitors
After the first day of school, parents/guardians are welcome to eat lunch with their child. 24 hour advance notice is requested to ensure we have adequate seating. Please call the office at 502-732-7085 if you would like to schedule a time to eat lunch with your child.
Classroom Volunteers and Chaperones
After the first day of school, parents/guardians may schedule times to volunteer in classrooms or to help support teachers. This should be scheduled with the classroom teacher. A background check is required for volunteers IF they will be working directly with students without staff supervision. A background check is NOT required for volunteers IF they will be under direct supervision of a staff member at all times while working with students OR if they will not be working with students (i.e., if they are just coming to help make copies, etc.)
If you have questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to the school.
